Q. SHOULD I SET MY FAN TO "AUTO" OR "ON"?
Leaving the “on” setting is there to make you feel more comfortable. It continually runs air through the house to balance the temperature. The problem is that this is usually very inefficient and power consuming! If you want to save on your bill, switching it to auto is the better option. It saves energy and blows when the AC is producing cold air. Set your thermostat accordingly.
Q. WHAT IF THERE'S ICE ON MY AC?
The first thing to do in this scenario is to turn the unit off. Let the unit defrost and then call GAP Mechanical. It could be a bunch of different things, some common reasons are:
- Insufficient ductwork
- Dirty filter
- A broken blower motor
- Leaking refrigerant
Whatever the case may be, you need to have a professional come by to pinpoint the issue. With GAP Mechanical you’re in good hands.
Q. DO I NEED A BIGGER AC UNIT?
This is not true. Be cautious of contractors trying to sell you a unit to big for your home. It needs one that is sized for your square footage. If you have a unit too large it will constantly turn off and on, not dehumidify your home properly, drain energy, decrease life of unit, and increase your bill if it is not done correctly. Please get in touch with GAP Mechanical today.
